Lisa A. Frisch, Executive Director
Jewels for Justice
On July 30th, we
had a wonderful party here at The Legal Project, Jewels for Justice,
where many generous friends came and donated their unused or broken
jewelry or made cash donations in support of our matching grant. Even
during the dog days of summer, we had a roomful of people enjoying donated
wine by Joseph Carr Wine Distributors and delicious
food donated by the Four Corners Luncheonette in Delmar.
We also had other delectable food and wine donated by the fabulous members
of our Board or Steering Committee. Sondra and her son Anthony, from
Sondra’s Fine Jewelers in Schenectady, did the
appraisals and donated 100% of the proceeds to The Legal Project! There
were door prizes donated by Stuyvesant Plaza and Rumor’s
Salon as well as a gorgeous, sterling silver and diamond necklace
especially designed by Sondra and expert designer Paula Lancaster,
that was donated as a raffle prize for anyone who made a contrbution
that evening.
The lucky winner was Joan Byalin! We were thrilled
with how the event was received and how much fun we all had, and we
want to thank everyone who attended and all who made such thoughtful
donations.

14th Annual Pro Bono Reception
We will be holding
our Pro Bono Reception on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the NYS Museum,
and will be having a wonderful auction, several raffles and for the
first time, a live auction with celebrity auctioneer, Susan
Arbetter from WMHT! We are seeking items for our auction, so
if you have any wonderful items that you would be interested in donating,
please contact me at lfrisch@legalproject.org.
We also have underwriting and advertising opportunities and would welcome
new members of our Honorary Committee for the event. Especially this
year, the proceeds are critical to helping support our domestic violence
civil legal services program! You can register to attend, register as
an Honorary Committee Member or an Underwriter on our secure website
at www.legalproject.org.
And, we have a terrific
RAFFLE!
Our raffle has two
amazing Grand Prizes for two lucky winners—a 52 inch Sharp Aquos
LCD Flat Screen TV donated by Press Play Home Electronics
or 4 reserved seats for any weekend Yankee-Boston Red Sox regular home
game of your choice with a limousine ride by Today’s Limousine.
Tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100. Winners will be announced at the Pro
Bono Reception on October 22, 2009. You can purchase tickets from The
Legal Project staff or Board or on our website! All proceeds will benefit
our domestic violence program, so it’s well worth taking a chance!
