As
you all know by now, we received an offer for help from anonymous donors,
a local couple whom we have never met and whose names we don't know,
to match up to $50,000 in donations received from the end of October
to December 31, 2005. We may not know their names, but we call them
our "Angels", an appropriate moniker any time of year, but
particularly during the holiday season. We are thrilled to announce
that we have been successful in making the match in this very short
amount of time, thanks to so many of you who rose to the challenge of
helping us after learning that our federal Violence Against Women grant
was not renewed. Below is an A-Z list of everyone who provided us support
to make the match or otherwise provided financial assistance for us
during this time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and believe
that this spirit of supporting The Legal Project to provide its services
to victims of domestic violence and the working poor will continue beyond
this special fundraising effort, helping this critical program in the
long term to maintain stability and consistency in providing services,
with or without government grants. I also wish to thank our wonderful
Board and amazing Staff who have worked tirelessly with great commitment
to our program, for the help and support of so many such as Senator
Hillary Clinton, Senator Charles Schumer, and Representatives John Sweeney
and Michael McNulty, as well as State Senator Neil Breslin and Assemblymember
Helene Weinstein. Thanks also to all of the local advocacy programs
and legal services programs that continue to work so closely with us,
and who were there to lend a hand in so many ways during this challenging
time.
