The Legal Project
is committed to ensuring that victims of domestic violence can exercise
their legal rights as effectively as others in our society. In 1998,
The Legal Project initiated a program to extend the scope of attorney
training and to increase services to victims of domestic violence
whose incomes often prevent them from retaining private attorneys
or using other legal services programs.
The goal of
the program is to help victims of domestic violence achieve safety
by obtaining Orders of Protection and, at the same time, resolving
custody and visitation issues in a way that furthers the safety
and independence of the survivor of domestic violence.
